Little Egg 'n' Small Snake...

One of our chickens laid this tiny egg the other day...

1 inch long... wow... now that is one tiny egg!! :-D
Sam found, well, actually the cats found this Baby Eastern Hog Nose Snake...
I must say I really *like* Hog Nose Snakes... and I'm sure you can see why... They play dead! It's so funny to watch them! When you roll them over, they immediately roll back over to their backs!
They also are a very pretty snake... :-D

Hhmm... somewhere we have some pictures of Caleb, Sam, and MaryVance holding Hog Nose snakes... hhmm... maybe I can find them....

Snakes Alive! Misc. snake pics

On the second day that we went to the Creation Museum, we went to a program called "Snakes Alive!" Rick Teepen was the 'snake' guy, he had 12 different kinds of snakes (Corn Snakes, African Rock Python, Milk Snakes, King Snake, several different kinds of Albino Corn Snakes, and an Albino Burmese Python...)
He also had a pet snake (the Albino Burmese Python) named Chiquita, he weighed 80 pounds, and was 13 feet long, the guy said when he is full grown he's supposed to be 18 feet long and weigh 160 pounds! Now that's a big snake!

Does anyone know what kind of snake this is?
At first we thought it was a Copperhead, but Caleb read that young Copperheads have a yellow tip at the end of their tails.
The boys found it on the side of the house, (yesterday)

and Matt took care of it for us ;-)

(he used the pick axe, then he buried it in a ant mound :-) )

ETA: We are pretty sure that our snake was just an Oak Snake (which is another name for the Grey Rat Snake) so we killed a
non-venomous snake :-(.
But hey, we would rather be safe than sorry! ;-)
